46 further islands. Altogether it measures 192 square
kilometers land surface and 458 square kilometers
sea surface.
The national park offers fantastic
snorkeling and diving sites with truly fascinating
underwater worlds, unaffected islands, idyllic bays
and caves, which you can also explore by boat or
kayak. The Koh Chang national park extends to approximately
45 kilometers of length (from the north to the south)
and approximately 32 kilometers width (from the
east to the west).
There are all together
5 National Park management offices on Koh Chang:
The first one is on the road to Baan Klong Kloi,
approximately 1 kilometer behind Baan Bang Bao.
The second one is at the entrance of the Klong Plu
waterfalls. The third office is on the road between
White sand Beach and Klong Son bay. Another one
is approximately 3 kilometer off Baan Salak Phet.
Since the first Farang (foreigner) visited
Koh Chang in 1987, more than 70.000 tourists had
chosen the island as their holiday destination back
in 1989 - this number increases every year continuously.
The year 2006 had seen more than 600.000
visitors, particularly because of big improvements
of infrastructure and the increase of more comfortable
accommodations. Also the proximity to Pattaya (3
- 4 hours by bus) and Bangkok (5 - 6 hours) makes
Koh Chang an additional host of visitors. That’s
why it is necessary to show all of them how to enjoy
there stay. |
